Ok so we have been really busy and I am behind on updates. Last weekend was so busy we had the last of swim and sports class for the kids. Then an evening with the G family bbq, playing at the park and games. Sunday was church then off to Cousin K's birthday.
At swim class Daddy got to take little miss down the water slide that she loved! This girl has no fear and loves to try new things.

At sports class little mister had lots of fun. He even got an award and a stamp on his hand for being part of the team. Way to go little guy we are so proud of you.

We joined Grandma, Grandpa, Grammy, Uncle T, Aunt R, and Uncle M for a great evening of fun. Little Miss got a new outfit and Little Mister got this amazing Darth Vader head that talks and changes your voice when you talk in the mask. We enjoyed a yummy dinner, adventures at the park and a mighty great game of nertz. I won't say who won because that would be bragging :) however there was a lot of sabotage going on which made the game that much more fun!

I will post some pictures of the birthday party later this weekend. Hope you all enjoy your cool Labor Day weekend!

downtown

We went down town today with Cousin A to see the Oregon Ballet Theater dance practice outside. oops that is next week! So instead we played in the park after our stop at the children's place where Little Miss got a new hat...

The kids played and let me take few pictures of them and Cousin A danced for us so we could say we saw a ballerina today. Little mister played like he was Luke skywalker on another planet. He made a few people smile at his game.

The best group shot I could get with this crazy crew.

We ended the day with a rare treat for my kids a lunch at McDonald's. I think this was little Misters favorite part of the day as they had star wars toys. He asked if we could eat there all time so he could get all the different ones. He even called daddy at work to see if daddy would go to McDonald's for lunch to get another star wars toy. Happy Meal any one? I know this little guy would join you or at least take the toys off your hands :)
Enjoy your weekend!

time with dad

Weekends mean much needed daddy time. For Little mister it means working and helping dad outside or on projects, Also taking breaks for lots of star wars adventures. This time Little miss even got to join in the fun.

For Little miss is means distracting daddy from any work he might want to do so he will play with her. I was able to catch this sweet moment after a not so sweet diaper change.

I am blessed to have a hubby who is wonderful and loves to be with his kids! He is an amazing father and wonderful friend. Thanks Brian for all you do!

Staying cool

Today we headed to the library and then to the fountain for some fun with Cousin A and Aunt B.

Little Mister making new friends

Little Miss pausing to see if mom saw her running to the water.

Cousin A encouraged little Miss to try running through the water.

Cousin A loves the water and loves to show her cousins just how to do it.

enjoying a snack of goldfish in the sun.

oops look at the sign little mister just ran pass as I snapped this picture of him in the water. :)

Hope you and yours are finding fun ways to cool off in the heat.

summer day dreams

Last week one late afternoon we were out side playing and I wanted to get a picture of Little miss that was like one my Wonderful photo taking friend Kim had done. Well Little miss did not want to cooperate with the camera or mom. So I put the camera down and decided to just play with my kids and forget the pictures for today. When Little mister wanted to look at the clouds and find space ships and word world guys( odd combo but that is what he was looking for) I got in the grass with him and then look over and saw how sweet he looked and grabbed my camera. Boy am I glad I did...

He sat up long enough for me to get this cute picture and tell me all about sheep and duck on word world that day.

Then he was back to laying in the grass and telling me all about the many wonders he learned at PowerLab. Then went on to think about what Luke and Leah Skywalker would have done at PBS(known to the rest of us as VBS). I kind of miss just lying in the grass on summer days and pondering the important things in life :)

Hope you are enjoying the moments of summer...

Power Lab

We just finished an amazing week of day camp(AKA VBS) called Power Lab at church. Little Mister got to join in with the big kids this year and had a blast! The conversations we have had at home are amazing. Last night he was full of questions. All about if we can't see Jesus is he real or pretend? What is heaven like? Does Jesus go to the grocery store in heaven when he is hungry? Is the parking lot in heaven really big because lots of people want to see Jesus? This morning after a melt down in the car.we said a quick prayer and a few moments later I hear this voice behind me say" I am sorry mom, was that a sin to not control my temper?, but you know what, God forgives me and throws all my sins in the trash!" I look back thru the mirror with I must admit misty eyes and see he is wanting to say more so I wait..." mom Jesus forgets but I don't forget..." so we talk about love and forgiveness what that is all about. What a blessing to be reminded by my 3yr old that is what it is all about God's love is so much bigger then we can even imagine that are mistakes are taken away and even if we and those around us still see them and remember but God doesn't he see his blessed child and in that is our hope!
Here are a few pictures of the week.

At the zoo

Just completed a LO of our trip to the zoo last week. below is the journaling on the page that is to tiny to read

Our zoo pass was expiring today so we invited our good friends M, L and J to join us for the day. What fun we had! Little Mister and M had fun looking at the animals and splashing in the water. Little Miss and L enjoyed the view from the stroller. They mostly just wanted to look at each other rather then the animals. I enjoyed great conversation with my friend J who I just know is going to be a dear friend for life. After a fun trip on the train we headed home for naps. Smiles on both my kids faces for they had truly enjoyed their morning with some good friends!

summer reading

I have always loved to read and it seems when life gets so busy it gets put aside. However I have finished some books this summer and Thought I would tell you about them some I loved and some well, I wouldn't recommend.

Mama Rocks Rules- Liked this book. Great advice on parenting along with some funny stories. Written by Chris Rocks mom you can see where he gets his humor from. I liked her advice for the most part. Defiantly got me thinking!

Covenant child. This book was an easy read on a touching retelling of the prodigal son. It really got me thinking about how God has so much he wants to give me and sometimes I get so caught up in unbelief that I miss it. I read this book in about 3 days. Really sweet story.

The shack... All controversy aside I really did not like this book at all. It was really hard to get through because I didn't really feel connected with the characters or the authors style of writing. That being said it also has some very odd views on God that the bible clearly states other wise. It did however create some great conversations between family and friends and encouraged me to do some deep digging in the word to find out what the bible says so for that I am thankful. Do I recommend this book??? no I would say if you are limited on time and looking for something spiritual try The Bible :) or most Max Lucado or Beth Moore books

Water For Elephants. I loved this book!!! I wasn't sure I would like it but I loved the character from the beginning and found the story to capture me right away. It is about a man remembering his days working for the circus in the 1920 or 30s. The story is fun and I finished wanting to hear more yet happy with the ending. I highly recommend reading this book. It does have some bad language if that bothers you here is your warning ;)

Rattle trap Car- We loved this book. The kids think it is pretty funny and they do not get tired of hearing it. We have been checking it out form the Library off and on since the spring time. If we have not checked out from the library the next time you go you should give it a try.

Hope you get a chance to do some summer reading and if you have any recommendation I am always interested.
