dream, laugh, dance

Little miss wanted to take a dance class but we didn't want to start classes with her just yet. So we came up with a plan. She is having so much fun dancing at home with her own private teacher.

Her Teacher, cousin me me

They get together once a week and dance, dance, dance. LIttle mIster is not so thrilled with all the girl stuff but Cousin me me still finds time to play starwars with him when the dance time is all done.

Lots of questions and some answers...

As many of you know Little Mister is full of questions for mom and dad. We usually try to find a way to answer them the best way we can for him to understand. He is after all only four. Some of the most recent favorites have been....
LM-"Dad if we can't see God how can we believe in him?"
Dad- " well that's faith son" followed by a long conversation with many more questions

LM-" Mom how hot is the sun"...
Mom "very hot even hotter then the oven, we can look it up when we get home."
LM-" mom if you went on the sun would your life time be over?"
Mom- "Yes honey"
LM- a very long pause followed by " then how do scientist know how hot it is?"

" Mom how do cell phones work?"
" mom will my preschool teacher teach me about how our lungs work, how babies come out and more about our bones and human body"

I am planning on skipping that middle question for as long as I can :)
These and many more questions are in addition to the endless questions about the human body. So many nights are spend with dad looking things up on google or wickapedia. Last nights search included questions about how we see different colors. Brian found this picture and showed it to him along with many others.

Today we found this in his art book, he was very proud to tell me he remembered the brain stem

and this picture of someone breathing and the air going in and out of the lungs

I can't even begin to imagine the questions and drawing his little mind will come up with next!

first day of preschool

Today was Little Misters first day of preschool. It was an open house so he got to meet his teacher and meet some new friends. Last night he got to pick his favorite meal for dinner. Can you believe he chose peanut butter and jelly, chips, an orange and home made chocolate cookies for desert. Does he think I can't cook or something, really why do I bother to cook if this is such a big hit :) Oh well, he and sister were very happy with dinner. This morning he woke up ready to go to school! he even asked me to take his picture before we left. Aunt Sissa was kind enough to stay with Little Miss for the morning, Thank you sissa it was a big help. I don't think Little Mister has ever smiled for pictures this much before you can tell he is very proud of himself...

picking out treasures for his teacher, she got a feather and a "beautiful rock"

On the front steps of school
making his place mat for snack time
looking at books in the book loft
While at school he meet his teacher, learned what he needs to do when he gets to school, made a few new friends, and even got to do a few projects. On the way home I told him he could pick out one special treat to have for a snack. Thinking he might pick ice cream or a cookie. He ask me if he could pick anything, and then told me "I want to have some cheese popcorn". So popcorn it was a stop at the grocery store and then on to home. No tears form me today but I am sure they will happen on Wednesday when he goes all by himself. I am so proud of him!!!!

Made this fun Art books for my kids during nap time and still had plenty of time for a nap too :)
I got the idea for a blog called yourhomebasedmom.com, My kids love stickers and drawing and we have so many papers laying around the house so my solution.I got sprial note books $.50 at Target back to school sale the kind with a folder inside. Then let each of them pick out a piece of scrap book paper, some spray adhesive. I cut the paper to fit the frount and used the scraps to decorate the folders inside. So far they are well loved and used almost every day! I am thinking they may be showing up at some birthday parties soon :)
Not the clearest picture but you get the idea
