Moving day...

We are packing up and getting ready to move! We found our dream home and God opened many doors to allows to have such a beautiful home at such an amazing deal. I am so excited! I was hoping you might have some words of wisdom to offer as to ways to make this move run smoothly.
I have colored coded each boxes as to what room they go to and I have put a number indicating what floor that room is on. Other then that I am hoping you have some other amazing ideas that will help us out. Thank you to all of you who prayed for us and were a sounding board for all my worries and hopes. We are truly blessed to know so many wonderful people!!!

Don't use newspaper to wrap things in that could be ruined (as in paintings, etc). Newsprint rubs off and makes a mess. Use bedding, towels, cushy stuff to wrap lamps and breakable things. As much as you can, sort as you go, but I realize that's easier said than done. The color coding sounds like a great idea.

you are already more organized than I ever could be(I still have boxes from 6 years ago), so my only suggestions is get help whenever and wherever you can- yes I mean ask me and I'll come help or watch kids or whatever!

For the news print we "invested" in a box of paper from either public storage or uhaul that is newsprint paper just without the print- it was totally worth it AND the kids still finds some now and again and it makes AWESOME drawing paper!

I have always marked boxes that contain dishes and glassware as "Fragile' or "Handle With Care."

Keep a running list of what you packed in which box. It will help when you need to locate that one item fast.

Pack a survival box (things you'll need asap incl snacky stuff for kids a nite light or 2 for kids rooms and bathroom a hammer, screwdriver etc) mark the last box packed as "last box" most likely this is one of the first boxes you'll need. If possible before moving day put tp in the bathrooms. Plan that you wont load/unload but direct. Decide ahead of time what your safe haven room will be. The first room to unpack and keep decluttered. Such as the master it will be a safe haven for everyone. Also box size is important too big = too heavy for books etc - Hil
