feeling crafty

We have been doing a few crafts around here and I thought I would share with you some of our fun. I know it is a lot of pictures but I saved my favorite project for last so I hope you can make it to the end. The first idea we found on familyfun.com they used dye from eggs rather then paint. We did it for our letter T so dying eggs that early was kind of out of the question. So we took these supplies

an afternoon of painting with help

and ended up with these tulips...

My friend Allie made some cute flowers and it reminded me of an artical I saw in Creating Keepsakes a few years back. So with some scrapbook paper and skewers and scissors we have some spring looking flowers. We made these together for "happy Spring day" (the first day of spring March 20th) .

meme came over the first day of spring break and the kids had so much fun making these foam eggs. I got them at Joann's with my coupon and have enough for next year too. I hung them up in the kids room for some easy easter decorations.

The last project to show you I have been wanting to do for a while was so much fun and reminded me of my last sewing project. I got this shirt at Goodwill for $3 and found a great tutorial on line for free at www.crafters.org ...

I got out my wonderful sewing machine which the light decided to flicker on and off the whole time. While I also had no dinning room light because that is broken but that is a whole different story

What should have taken just one afternoon took a lot longer because I forgot the rule of measure twice cut once. I put the dress on Little miss and it was too tight. So I used the neck piece and added side panels. Sound familiar? That because the same thing happened with her Halloween costume. You would think tearing out a dress once would be enough to remind me to measure twice! I also cut a small hole in the front of the dress why trimming a loose string. So I added some butterflies to the front. Thank you to my friend Jess who helped me ponder how to fix my mistakes(she made the same dress for her little one out one of her hubbies old shirts). Sorry for the awful picture but I only had a few seconds before we had to get dressed for the day.

the front of the shirt is now the back

Happy in her new dress...

Have any shirts your giving away??? I would love to make her some more for the summer.
Well I am off to do some more crafty things. Little Mister wants a rocket ship shirt, a blanket for his papa bear, we have bunny garland to make, some cute paper eggs to hang up, meme and Little miss want matching shirts for their little matching skirts, and Easter outfits to buy. Are you doing anything crafty lately? Hope you all enjoyed the sunshine!
