feeling crafty

We have been doing a few crafts around here and I thought I would share with you some of our fun. I know it is a lot of pictures but I saved my favorite project for last so I hope you can make it to the end. The first idea we found on familyfun.com they used dye from eggs rather then paint. We did it for our letter T so dying eggs that early was kind of out of the question. So we took these supplies

an afternoon of painting with help

and ended up with these tulips...

My friend Allie made some cute flowers and it reminded me of an artical I saw in Creating Keepsakes a few years back. So with some scrapbook paper and skewers and scissors we have some spring looking flowers. We made these together for "happy Spring day" (the first day of spring March 20th) .

meme came over the first day of spring break and the kids had so much fun making these foam eggs. I got them at Joann's with my coupon and have enough for next year too. I hung them up in the kids room for some easy easter decorations.

The last project to show you I have been wanting to do for a while was so much fun and reminded me of my last sewing project. I got this shirt at Goodwill for $3 and found a great tutorial on line for free at www.crafters.org ...

I got out my wonderful sewing machine which the light decided to flicker on and off the whole time. While I also had no dinning room light because that is broken but that is a whole different story

What should have taken just one afternoon took a lot longer because I forgot the rule of measure twice cut once. I put the dress on Little miss and it was too tight. So I used the neck piece and added side panels. Sound familiar? That because the same thing happened with her Halloween costume. You would think tearing out a dress once would be enough to remind me to measure twice! I also cut a small hole in the front of the dress why trimming a loose string. So I added some butterflies to the front. Thank you to my friend Jess who helped me ponder how to fix my mistakes(she made the same dress for her little one out one of her hubbies old shirts). Sorry for the awful picture but I only had a few seconds before we had to get dressed for the day.

the front of the shirt is now the back

Happy in her new dress...

Have any shirts your giving away??? I would love to make her some more for the summer.
Well I am off to do some more crafty things. Little Mister wants a rocket ship shirt, a blanket for his papa bear, we have bunny garland to make, some cute paper eggs to hang up, meme and Little miss want matching shirts for their little matching skirts, and Easter outfits to buy. Are you doing anything crafty lately? Hope you all enjoyed the sunshine!

weekend sun

I know it has been a while! I have so many pictures to share and we are still going strong on our letter of the week. I will try to get some of those pictures up soon. For now here is some pictures from the weekend. Little Miss has wanted to do lots of big girl stuff including wearing "pretties" every time we leave the house. Good thing meme came through at her party.

She has a bit of a dare devil in her...

The kids have had so much fun outside, playing golf, washing the car, chalk, digging, running around after each other, and today had a picnic outside.

Hope you enjoyed the look into our weekend.

xoxo pictures 1

On Little Misters 1st Valentines day Beth and meme went with us to get pictures done. We decided at the last minute to do one picture with meme and little mister. Every year now we get the kids together to do pictures I tried to do them myself and was not happy with the results. So I asked my kind and very talented friend Kim of blubelstudio.com to take some pictures. Kim always does such a good job and teaches me so much. Not only does she have a great eye but she is great with the kids. I had to share some of my favorites. I will show you a few now and you will have to look tomorrow for my three favorites...

there really is so many cute ones to chose from ! thank you Kim!!! Also thank to Miss Allie and Miss Jess for the matching dresses they worked out perfect for pictures.

a little rant...

Ok so I never talk politics on my blog, but today I have to say something. I usually leave the political stuff to my hubby who knows more then I do and can say it so much better. Today I heard two things that I couldn't ignore.
1st I heard while watching Rachel Ray, Chelsea Handler who is known for her "comedy" of making fun of other people say in one sentence her favorite person to make fun of is George Bush. Then not just a few min later she asked who she would not make fun of and one the people she listed was Obama because he is the president and we shouldn't make fun of the president. WHAT!!! In our house growing up we were not aloud to tell presidential jokes my dad used to say it didn't matter if you voted for them or not the were in a position of respect. I hope to teach my kids the same thing. While I am happy to be hearing less jokes about our president the double standard drives me crazy!
The second thing I heard was that Obama is bringing the "family" back together , people are eating dinner together again. Really... I eat dinner with my family because we want to not because any political leader does. Maybe people are beginning to remember what it was like when they were growing up. Or maybe people were already doing that and one has nothing to do with the other. Again happy that more families may be eating together and spending more time together but lets be realistic the pat on the back for that goes to the ones who decided to do it if they can. I have respect for Obama and my friends who voted for him :) but lets be realistic about his role in the country he is not my "hope" for a "new change" for that I place my hope in Christ.
Done now won't take on politics again I leave that to my hubby...
