Women March PDX

See these two sets of feet, they belong to two strong women. They belong to two women who long for people to know they are loved. They belong to sisters who have a hope that all of Gods children can live without fear. They belong to two friends who can't sit back and let hate and vulgar comments be passed off as just locker room talk or statements taken out of context. They belong to a mom and and aunt who want equal opportunities and health care. They belong to two introverts who normally would not join 100,000 people all crammed together one place for any reason, but today we did. Today we were part of history. Today we felt proud to tell friends, family and the children we love we did this for us and for them. Today we said we care about all people, and we made new friends. Today we saw something Beautiful. Today is a day we will never forget!

modern technology...

I remember reading somewhere a few days ago that modern technology mostly the smartphone is slowly tearing families apart. That parents attention is not fully being in the moment with their kids because they are to quick to respond to the sound of an incoming text or email. How great moments are put on pause for that quick photo added to instragram or a quick break for a Facebook update. How kids are asking to play games rather then interact with each other. While I do find this very valid point I have to say as a kid I too had my ways of "escaping" family time, it was called a book :)
Lets be honest even with out smart phones it is sometimes hard to be fully there and not be running through your to do list in your mind. Well maybe that is is just me and now I have gotten off track. What I really wanted to say is that in this time of year especially, that modern technology has brought us closer! With my hard working husband, tax season means many late nights at the office and Saturdays too. For the kids and I we really miss him yes we know how much he loves us and is willing to work hard for his family and take good care of his clients but we still miss him. Without our iphones we would just go about our night  and off to bed while dad worked away, instead we get face time. The kids tell daddy all about their day and sometimes I even learn new things they hadn't told me about yet. They laugh, tell jokes, ask daddy about his day too. It truly is touching to watch. So while yes modern technology can cause some distance and a change to the way we communicate in can also bring this...

Snow Day 2

Painting in the snow, snow icecream, old fashioned sled, and more snowball fights! The best part was Brian made it home after having to stay at work all night!

Sunny February...

The first few days of February were so sunny and bright! We spent lots of time playing soccer in the neighborhood, practicing roller skating, and even some tennis. We love our neighbors and all the kids have so much fun together! We have also enjoyed the big hike up to the park to kick the soccer ball around. I love theses sunny days!

Second Grade field trip

Mr. C's class has been studying insects fro the last three weeks. So for this years field trip we headed to the Nature park to learn all about the insects and bugs that live there. In the morning we walked the park and looked to things to our alphabet list of living things in the park. The conversation between the kids cracked me up!

 One of my favorite flowers.

After a picnic lunch we went to learn about the three different types of bugs and insects that lived in the park. First up was grass or meadow bugs. The kids took turns catching things in the nets and then looking at them in the boxes. We then moved on to forest bugs and insects where the kids got to dig in the dirt and try to find some bugs. Last was water bugs where the park had a big tank of tadpoles and buckets filled with pond water to sift through and find water bugs.

Mr C and his best buddy Mr L.

What a fun day! I loved watching Mr C learning with his friends. Special thank to Miss Jess for taking such good care of Miss C so I could go.
